As every year, with the arrival of good weather the beaches become the main attraction for tourists in Spain, and one more year, the Costa del Sol has been recognized for its excellence in terms of its beaches.

This 2022, the province of Malaga has received a total of 34 Blue Flags for its beaches, getting nothing less than 12 awards more than in last year’s edition.

This year they have received the Blue Flag new beaches that appear for the first time among the winners, as is the case of the beaches Burriana and Torrecilla in the town of Nerja, or Alfas-Alicate, in Marbella.

The city of Malaga, capital of its province, is undoubtedly the biggest protagonist in the list, having received a total of 7 Blue Flags, many of them new in the lists.

In addition, municipalities such as those of Vélez-Málaga have made a commitment to its coast with a large number of environmental, quality and safety certificates.

Estepona, Marbella, Mijas and Fuengirola are the beaches with the highest number of awards, being Estepona the municipality with the highest consistency in the quality of its coast over the years.
